Lotus Statue

Lotus station, commonly known as Guanyin statue, is the last work in the series of Sino Portuguese friendship memorials. It is located on the artificial island opposite Sun Yat Sen Road, the new port of Macao. It is a landmark scenic spot in Macao. It has become a must for Chinese and foreign tourists because of its unusual features.

Lotus station, commonly known as Guanyin statue by Macao residents, is the last work in the series of Sino Portuguese friendship memorials. It is located on the artificial island opposite Sun Yat Sen Road, the new port of Macao. As a landmark scenic spot in Macao, it has an unusual style, so it has become a must for Chinese and foreign tourists.

Guanyin statue is composed of body and lotus seat, weighing 50 tons and 20 meters high, which is called Wanghai Guanyin. The diameter of the base part is 19 meters, which is composed of 16 lotus petals. There are Guanyin room, multi-function exhibition hall and small library inside lotus block.

Construction history

In 1997, Guanyin lotus garden was planned and built by the Australian and Portuguese government, and officially opened on March 21, 1999.

Architectural design

Guanyin lotus garden was designed by Cristina Rocha Leiria, a Portuguese designer. Later, it was cast by Chenguang Group Company in Nanjing, China, and the 47 year old pieces were embedded in the site. The direction of Guanyin's face was determined by the geomancy master's accurate calculation, which shows that Guanyin is climbing over the Pine Mountain and walking towards the Guanyin hall on the main road of the Deputy General of the United States. At the bottom of the statue is a religious building, in which there are not only professional theological researchers, but also the unique belief culture of the trinity of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. The architectural design of the statue was completed by Portuguese artists in Nanjing, China, which shows the friendship between China and Portugal and the unique position of Macao as a cultural exchange center.

Guanyin lotus garden is a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is located on an artificial island, with a total height of 20 meters. The base part is 7 meters high, the standing statue is 13 meters high, and the bottom diameter is 19 meters. It is surrounded by 16 lotus petals, with a total weight of 50 tons. The shape of Guanyin statue is simple, with hands in the chest and clothes gently brushing. It seems to walk slowly, showing beautiful lines and movement. Guanyin has a serene appearance. From a distance, her eyes are closed. From a close view, her eyes are watching the world.

There are two floors in the lotus seat of Guanyin lotus garden. The first floor is the viewing room with reception and souvenir sales department; the lower floor is the multi-functional exhibition hall and small library; the library has a multimedia resource center with more than 600 religious books in various languages, as well as other CDs, audio tapes and video tapes related to religious culture. The multi-function exhibition hall can accommodate up to 50 people, suitable for small activities.

Walking along the long suspension bridge across the sea, you can gradually see the whole picture of Guanyin, which is different from far and near. Its expression is dignified, solemn and full of the unique majesty of the gods.
