Henan Normal University is located in Xinxiang, Henan Province. Its predecessor is science department of Zhongzhou University (now Henan University), which was founded in 1923. It was merged with Pingyuan Normal University in 1953. After the founding of new China, it was renamed as the second College of Henan Normal University, Henan second normal university and Xinxiang Normal University. It has gone through the periods of science of Sun Yat sen University, Science College of Henan University and Science College of national Henan University. In 1985, it was officially renamed Henan Normal University.
