Xishan township is located in the western mountainous area of Guanyang County, adjacent to Xing'an County in the West and Quanzhou County in the northwest. It is bounded by Guanyang Town, Xinjie Township, Huangguan town and Guanyinge Township in the north, East and south, covering a total area of 188 square kilometers. It has 10 villagers' committees and 140 villagers' groups, with a total population of 12308 people, including Yao, Zhuang, Hui and Gelao ethnic minorities It was built in 1957, and its title was changed several times. In October 1984, it was restored to Xishan Yao nationality township, which is still in use today.

The township is surrounded by ocean mountains. The terrain is high in the north and low in the East. The altitude is between 400 and 1700 meters. There are more mountains and less arable land. In recent years, the township party committee, the people's Congress and the government, based on the advantages of the landscape resources of the township, have read the classic of "mountain" well, made the strategic policy of "water" lively, and established the goal of "two townships and three bases" (namely, the township of mineral water, the township of small hydropower, the production base of Phyllostachys pubescens, the production base of medicinal materials, and the production base of chestnut), which has made a new leap in the socio-economic development of the township. The total industrial output value was 15.78 million yuan, and the tax was 468000 yuan, accounting for 53.6% of the township's financial revenue of 873000 yuan. The main tourist attractions include Gaocao Chan temple, the holy land of Buddhism; Wulong temple, the site of Yao people's uprising in northern Guangxi; Wuma mountain, Panwang hall, flame beach, 24 flower convex, immortal playing chess, Sanjie singing platform, etc. it is a good place for sightseeing, refuge and leisure .
