Longhua Town

Longhua Town, an old town in Shenzhen, was a part of Bao'an County in the late Qing Dynasty. In October 1949, new China was founded and Longhua township was established. After several reforms, it was changed into "Longhua Town" in October 1986. Its jurisdiction includes today's Longhua street, Dalang street and Minzhi street. In January 1993, Longhua town was incorporated into Bao'an District; in 2004, Longhua town was renamed "Longhua Street"; on April 29, 2006, three streets, Minzhi, Longhua and Dalang, were demolished in Longhua street, which was under the jurisdiction of Longhua New District in 2011.

Historical evolution

From ancient times to Qing Dynasty

From ancient times to the Qing Dynasty, Longhua belonged to Bao'an county.

Bao'an was the place of Baiyue in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties; it belonged to Panyu County of Nanhai County in Qin Dynasty (now Guangzhou); it belonged to BOLUO County of Nanhai County in Han Dynasty (now Huizhou).

In the sixth year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (331 A.D.), Nanhai county was analyzed and Dongguan county was set up, with six counties under its jurisdiction. Baoan was the first county to be built for Baoan. Dongguan Prefecture and Bao'an county are located in the area of Zigang (now Zhongshan Park, Nanshan District, Shenzhen) outside the east gate of Nantou old city, Shenzhen.

In 757 A.D., Baoan county was renamed Dongguan County, and the county government was moved to Yong (today's Dongguan City); in 972 A.D., Dongguan county was merged into Zengcheng County; in the next year, Dongguan county was restored.

In the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573 AD), Dongguan county was analyzed, Xinan county was set up, and the county government moved back to Nantou. According to the records of Xin'an County during the reign of Kangxi, in the late Ming Dynasty, Xin'an County had jurisdiction over three townships, seven capitals, 57 Tu 509 villages, and Longhua belonged to urban and rural areas, six capitals in the world.

From the first year to the third year of Kangxi (1662-1664), in order to prevent the people from helping Zheng Chenggong, Xin'an County twice issued the "order to move to the sea", moving 80 Li from the coast, greatly reducing its territory and population, and merging into Dongguan County in the fifth year (1666 A.D.); in the eighth year of Kangxi (1669 A.D.), Xin'an County was restored. During the reign of Kangxi, there were 30 fairs in Xin'an County, six of which had Qinghu fairs.

According to the records of Xin'an County in 1819, the villages under the jurisdiction of Dian Shi, Xian Cheng, Guan Fu Si and Fu Yong Si, among which the local villages under the jurisdiction of Guan Fu Si are Dalang Village, baishilong village, Qinghu village, Shangfen new village and yuanfen village, as well as the Hakka villages of chilingtou, zaohekeng, niudipu and laiwushan. The villages under the jurisdiction of fuyongsi include Jiangtou, Shiao and Henglang.

In the 34th year of Guangxu (1908 AD), the constitution of local autonomy of urban and rural towns was promulgated. The administrative division of Xin'an County is that there are townships (towns) under the county and villages under the jurisdiction of townships.

The period of the Republic of China

In the early years of the Republic of China, it followed the township autonomy in the late Qing Dynasty.

In 1914, Xin'an County was renamed Bao'an county because it had the same name as Xin'an County in Henan Province. In July 1931, Bao'an County implemented district and township establishment and local autonomy law. There are 7 districts, 99 townships and 3 towns in the county. The Sixth District governs Longhua, wushiyan, Guanlan and Pinghu townships.

In 1933, due to the downsizing, four townships, including Longhua, were transferred to the jurisdiction of the fourth district. In 1941, the third and fourth districts of Bao'an county were merged into the second district. From then on, until 1949, Longhua township was under the jurisdiction of the Second District of Bao'an county.

The period of the people's Republic of China

In October 1949, Bao'an county was liberated. The county people's government took over the power of each district and township, and successively set up three people's Union townships, 10 townships and one town. In Longhua area, there are two townships, Longhua and Minzhi, which were merged into Longzhi.

In April 1950, Baoan county was divided into districts, and Longzhi township was under the jurisdiction of the third district of Baoan county.

In 1951, the county was divided into four districts, 69 townships and one town. District 3 governs Longhua, Dalang, Qingsong and Minzhi townships.

In August 1955, the third district was renamed Guanlan district. In October 1956, Guanlan district changed its jurisdiction over Longhua (Longhua Ⅲ wave) and Pinus tabulaeformis (Qingsong, Minzhi, GangBan) townships.

In March 1958, Guanlan district was divided into Longhua Township and Guanlan Township. In October of the same year, Longhua Township and Guanlan Township merged to form the "red people's commune", which was later renamed Guanlan people's Commune and located in Guanlan market.

In July 1961, Longhua separated from Guanlan people's Commune and established Longhua people's commune, which is located in Longhua market (under the jurisdiction of Buji District). The commune consists of six brigades: Dalang, Longhua, Longsheng, Minzhi, Sanlian and Pinus tabulaeformis.

In January 1963, Longhua people's commune was merged into Guanlan people's commune; in August 1975, Longhua people's commune was separated from Guanlan people's commune again, and established Longhua people's commune under the jurisdiction of Dalang and other six brigades.

In July 1983, Longhua people's commune was changed into Longhua District. The district office is located in Longhua market, which governs 6 townships and 45 natural villages, including Dalang, Longhua, Minzhi, Sanlian, Qingsong and Longsheng, with a population of 8748 and 1891 households.

The evolution and jurisdiction of the six townships are as follows:

Dalang township: three junior teams, Shiao, dachengkeng and Langkou, were set up in 1954. They became senior clubs in 1957. In 1958, three teams, Shifeng, Dafeng and Langkou, were set up and merged into Dalang brigade. After July 1983, the brigade was transferred to the township and the township was stationed in dachunkeng. At that time, it had jurisdiction over 4 natural villages, 333 households and 1636 people.

Longhua township: the junior society was established in 1954 and became the senior society in 1957. Gaofeng and Tongsheng teams were established in 1958 and merged into Longhua team in 1963. It was separated in 1978 and merged into Longhua Township in July 1983. The township is located in zaohekeng. When the jurisdiction of 11 villages, 473 households, 2155 people.

Minzhi township: in 1954, five primary communities including Zhangkeng, Minle, Hengling, baishilong and wangtianhu were established. In 1957, it became a senior society. In 1958, it set up a democratic brigade. After July 1983, the brigade was changed to a township, and the township was located in wangtianhu village. At that time, it had jurisdiction over 9 natural villages, 294 households and 1354 people.

Sanlian township: in 1955, Gongcun, shanzuitou, Shitouling and Jiangtou four primary societies were established, and in 1957, they became senior societies. The Sanlian and Jiangtou regiments were established in 1958 and merged into the Sanlian regiment in 1963. After July 1983, the regiment was changed into a township and the township was stationed in Guoxiao village. When the jurisdiction of 8 villages, 216 households, 956 people.

Qingsong township: the junior society was established in 1955 and turned into the senior society in 1957. Qinghu and Pinus tabulaeformis brigades were established in 1958. They were merged into Qingsong brigades in 1963 and separated in 1978. After July 1983, they were merged into Qingsong Township, where Gonghe village is located. Longsheng township: the junior society was established in 1954 and became the senior society in 1957. After 1958, it merged with Shangtang brigade to form Longsheng brigade. It belongs to Bao'an county and its subordinate townships are changed into administrative villages. There are 7 administrative villages (Dalang, Longhua, Minzhi, Sanlian, Qinghu, Yousong, Longsheng) and 1 residents' Committee (market town).

In January 1993, Bao'an county was abolished and divided into Bao'an District and Longgang District. Longhua town belongs to Bao'an District. Under its jurisdiction, there are 8 administrative villages, 52 natural villages and 2 residents' committees of Jinglong and Longyuan, including Dalang, Longhua, Minzhi, Sanlian, Qinghu, Yousong, Longsheng and Shangtang.

In January 1999, Longhua administrative village was divided into two administrative villages, Longhua and Tongsheng.

In 2004, Longhua town was changed into "Longhua Street", which still belongs to Bao'an District.

On April 29, 2006, Longhua street was divided into Minzhi street, Longhua street and Dalang street.
