Xiaji town

Xiaji Town, belonging to Baoying County, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located at the South Gate of Baoying County, Yangzhou City, bordering Xinghua in the East, Gaoyou in the South and Jinhu in the West. Jielinsha highway, huaijiang new line, Jinbao south line and Huaiyang railway pass through. It sleeps the Beijing Hangzhou canal in the west, connects with the Yanjin national defense highway in the north, the Sanyang river of the south to north water diversion project runs through the East and West, and the Beijing Shanghai expressway has an exit in Xiaji Town, so the water and land transportation is very convenient.

The town covers an area of 125 square kilometers and has a population of 48693 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages, 3 neighborhood committees and 1 orchard. In 2005, the total output value of industry and agriculture was 1.92 billion yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 5280 yuan. It has won the honorary titles of civilized town in Jiangsu Province, new model small town in Jiangsu Province, health town in Jiangsu Province and beautiful environment town in Yangzhou city.

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Xiaji town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Historical evolution

Xiaji township was established in 1949, and Xiaji commune was established in 1958. Ziyinghe orchard was built in 1960 and changed to ziyinghe commune in 1962. In 1983, Xiaji commune was changed into Xiaji Township and Guoqiao Township, and ziyinghe commune was changed into ziyinghe township. In 1991, it belonged to Xiaji Town, Guoqiao Township, etc.

In 1996, Xiaji town is located in the southeast of Baoying County, 43 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 42 square kilometers, with a population of 20000. It governs nine administrative villages including shuangju, Suya, Xiaji, Shuangtang, Lugou, Zhuzhuang, Duxiang, Jiangzhuang and dongdang, and the neighborhood committee in the town. Ziyinghe town is located in the south of Baoying County, 30 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 46 square kilometers, with a population of 20000 Jianggou, Liuhe, Qinhe, Gengzhuang, Weixing, Wangqiao, Yangliu, Fengshou, Wanmin, Zhengzhong, Tonghe, Caotang 15 administrative villages and Hongqiao neighborhood committee; Guoqiao township is located in the southeast of Baoying County, 27 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 36 square kilometers, with a population of 19000, and has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages of Zhaoyong, Guanghong, Tongkou, Yanzhuang, Tangbei, Youying, Laozhuang, XiangZhuang and Tanghe.

In 2000, ziyinghe town and Guoqiao Township were abolished, and Xiaji town was established. In 2003, it has jurisdiction over three neighborhood committees of Zhenzhong, guoshiqiao and Hongqiao, and 16 administrative villages of shuangju, Suya, Xiaji, Shuangtang, Jiangzhuang, Zhaoyong, Tongkou, Tangbei, Youying, XiangZhuang, sanyanghe, Wangying, Weixing, Wangqiao, Fengshou and Wanmin.

It can be transported to the sea through Yangzhou port, Shanghai port, Lianyungang port and Dafeng port, with a distance of 80 km, 310 km, 180 km and 150 km respectively.

Inland transportation

(1) highway: Beijing Shanghai Expressway passes through, and there are entrances and exits in the territory. The distance from Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing and Hangzhou is 300km, 200km, 900km and 400km respectively.
