The college is located in Changzhou science and Education City, a comprehensive experimental zone for the reform and development of national higher vocational education. It is a full-time ordinary college in charge of Jiangsu Provincial Department of education. It was founded in 1958 and was upgraded from a national key technical secondary school to a higher vocational and technical college in June 2001. In 2006, it was awarded "excellent" in the Ministry of education's evaluation of higher vocational talents training. In 2008, it became the construction unit of "Jiangsu provincial demonstrative higher vocational education park". In 2011, it became the first batch of "university students' entrepreneurship education demonstration school" in Jiangsu Province. In 2012, it won the title of "Jiangsu University Students' Entrepreneurship demonstration base".

The college covers an area of 825 mu, with a construction area of 291000 square meters, fixed assets of 736 million yuan, and the total value of teaching equipment of 82.57 million yuan. At present, there are 11000 full-time students, 598 teaching staff, including 392 full-time teachers; 148 senior professional titles or above, including 17 senior professional titles, 281 double quality teachers; 12 backbone teachers of "Blue Project" in Jiangsu Province, 4 training objects of "333" project at the provincial level, 1 famous teacher at the provincial level, and 1 excellent teaching team in Jiangsu Province.

The college adheres to the development strategy of "strengthening the school with talents, brand characteristics, school enterprise cooperation and international cooperation", and takes "entering morality, establishing career, being sensitive to learning and practicing" as its motto. The college actively carries out industry university research cooperation to serve regional economic development. The project of dyeing and finishing wastewater treatment won the third prize of China Textile Science and Technology Progress Award in 2008. As a scientific and technological achievement of the Ministry of water resources, the campus reclaimed water recycling system was mainly promoted. The Rcd-1 multi axis warp knitting machine was awarded the second prize of science and technology progress award by China Textile Industry Association and the "wool cotton cloth" was awarded the second prize ”It was awarded the third prize of the national new product by the national wool product research center, and the natural colored cotton new product research and development and industrialization project won the Changzhou "excellent project award of industry university research".

The college actively implements the development strategy of international cooperation. At present, it has established a stable cooperative relationship with Singapore Raffles education group and Japan Kyushu Institute of foreign languages; established Changfang Raffles International College and implemented bilingual teaching and double diplomas; implemented the "China Italy Marco Polo" international cooperation project, promoted the formation of cooperative school running between six Chinese and Italian universities, realized the exchange of teachers' visits; and formed the international student education system One project has achieved the breakthrough of zero for foreign students in Changzhou Higher Vocational Education Park.
