School history

Sanming university is a public provincial full-time undergraduate college, located in Sanming City, an emerging industrial city in the central part of Fujian Province. It is a national advanced city of spiritual civilization, a national health city, a garden city and an excellent tourist city in China. The school's predecessor is Sanming College, and its history can be traced back to the Fujian Normal School founded by Chen Baochen in 1903, which is known as the "source of Fujian Teachers". In recent years, the university has been successively rated as the Advanced College of Party building and ideological and political work in Fujian Province, the civilized school of Fujian Province, the advanced unit of national spiritual civilization construction, and the model unit of national greening.

School running conditions

At present, the campus covers an area of 1012 mu, with various building areas of 215700 square meters, including 120000 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms and 65000 square meters of student apartments. It has a collection of nearly 700000 books (another 130000 e-books). The total value of teaching equipment is 58 million yuan. There are 1321 computers for teaching, 11792 seats in multimedia classroom and 734 seats in voice room. It has track and field, swimming pool, indoor gymnasium, etc. The construction of digital campus has begun to take shape, and the campus network covers office, teaching, student apartments and other places.

The school takes full-time undergraduate and junior college education as the main body to cultivate all kinds of applied senior professionals and basic education teachers to meet the needs of economic and social development. At present, there are 11 departments and 2 colleges, namely, Chinese Department, political law department, foreign language department, chemical and bioengineering department, physical and electrical engineering department, mathematics and computer science department, civil engineering department, economic management department, art department, physical education department, teacher education department, Straits animation college and Straits Institute of technology. There are 28 undergraduate majors and 22 specialist majors, which can be awarded bachelor's degrees in engineering, science, literature, management, law, education, etc. There are nearly 10000 full-time students.

teaching staff

At present, there are 676 teaching staff, including 35 with senior professional title, 204 with deputy senior professional title and 247 with intermediate professional title. Among the 447 full-time teachers, 40.3% have master's degree or above, and 40.7% have senior professional titles. There are two doctoral tutors, one national candidate for the new century ten million talent project, one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding national contribution, two experts enjoying special allowance from the State Council, two national excellent teachers, one provincial top innovative talent, two provincial famous university teachers, four Sanming top talents and one Sanming excellent talent. Professor Cao Yunlu was selected as one of the top ten figures of "moving Fujian" in 2008, and Cao yangfeiyu was selected as one of the top ten figures of "moving Fujian" in 2009.

Teaching and research

The university always adheres to the fundamental goal of personnel training and the lifeline of school running quality, and strives to do a good job in the construction of undergraduate teaching evaluation and "quality engineering". It has three key disciplines of newly established provincial universities and three provincial characteristic professional projects. It has obtained 7 provincial excellent courses, 3 teaching experiment demonstration centers, 3 provincial university innovation platform construction projects, and 2 provincial engineering talent training mode innovation demonstration area projects. Since 2006, it has obtained 177 scientific research projects at all levels, 5 national patents and 3 patent authorization. Eight scientific research projects have been listed in the key projects of Fujian Universities Serving the construction of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits. Actively carrying out exchanges and cooperation with China University of science and technology, practical University and other universities in Taiwan is the university that the Provincial Department of education has decided to carry out the Fujian Taiwan joint education project. At the same time, it has established teaching and scientific research cooperation with Fudan University, Fuzhou University and Kharkov National Agricultural University of Ukraine. Seven research institutes have been established, including "natural medicine engineering research center of Fudan University Sanming College", "Fujian Taiwan Forestry Research Institute", "Fujian Sanming Automobile Engineering Technology Research Institute".
