Mingde College of Guizhou University, established in June 2001, is a full-time comprehensive undergraduate independent college approved by Guizhou Provincial People's government and confirmed by the Ministry of education. Mingde College of Guizhou University ranked first in the comprehensive strength of Guizhou independent college in 2017. The college has 7 departments, including information engineering department, electrical engineering department, digital media department, civil engineering department, bioengineering department, economics department and Management Engineering Department, with 34 undergraduate majors and professional directions. It has formed a discipline system with engineering as the main subject and coordinated development of economy, management, literature, art and other disciplines.

In September 2013, Guizhou University and Taihao Group signed a school running agreement to jointly hold Mingde College of Guizhou University. Taihao group funded the construction of a new campus, which is located in Huaxi University Town. The college covers an area of 950 mu. Through nearly three years of construction, the effective use area of the college has reached 560000 square meters, including 92000 square meters of classrooms, 120000 square meters of student dormitories, 37000 square meters of laboratories, 24000 square meters of libraries and 6000 square meters of gymnasiums. After the completion of the project, the college will become an independent college with beautiful environment and perfect facilities.

The initial results of the implementation of industry university integration are as follows: in 2015, the three-dimensional animation short film "gone with the wind" created by the media department of the college was selected as the creative project of the animation support program of the Ministry of culture to promote the socialist core values, and won the Gold Award of the animation group of the Ninth National Digital Art Design Competition. On March 15, 2016, it won the "best film award" at the 34th Chinese film summit of the Miami International Film Festival Animation Short Film Award.

Students actively participate in all kinds of competitions at all levels in the country.
