Qinghai University for Nationalities

Founded in December 1949, Qinghai University for nationalities is the earliest university in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, one of the earliest universities for Nationalities in New China, and one of the first units in China to obtain the right to confer master's degree.

In recent years, the school has undergone two major structural adjustments. In 2002, Qinghai Normal College was substantially integrated into our school. In 2009, it signed a formal counterpart exchange agreement with Beijing University of technology. In 2011, the people's Government of Qinghai Province signed an agreement with the State Commission for Nationalities to build Qinghai University for nationalities. In 2012, the Ministry of Education decided that Tianjin university should support Qinghai University for nationalities. In 2013, it was selected into the national "Midwest university basic ability construction project" project.

At present, the university has 21 colleges and 3 teaching departments directly under it, with disciplines and specialties covering literature, science, law, economics, management, education, history, medicine, engineering, etc. Approved by the Ministry of education, since 2014, our university and Tianjin University have jointly recruited and trained doctoral students. There are 58 undergraduate majors, 10 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 78 second-class master's degree authorized points and 5 professional master's degree authorized points; there are 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national famous teacher, 1 national teaching team, 3 National Excellent Courses, 4 national characteristic majors and 1 national scientific research institution; There are 13 provincial key disciplines, 8 provincial key laboratories, 6 experimental teaching demonstration centers, 43 provincial excellent courses and provincial key construction courses, 9 provincial scientific research institutions and 18 university level scientific research institutions.

There are 1137 faculty members in the University, including 685 full-time teachers, 6 lifelong professors, 165 professors and researchers, 266 associate professors and researchers, and 493 full-time teachers with doctor's and master's degrees. A total of 12723 students from 31 ethnic groups, including Han, Tibetan, Hui, Tu, Salar and Mongolia, from 29 provinces, cities and autonomous regions of China, have studied in school. They have jointly recruited 20 doctoral students and 1393 master's students with Tianjin University. So far, the school has trained more than 84000 qualified talents of all nationalities for the country.

In the past five years, the university has undertaken 444 scientific research projects at all levels, including 225 national, provincial and ministerial levels. Four kinds of academic journals published at home and abroad, including Qinghai ethnic studies, Journal of Qinghai University for Nationalities (PHILOSOPHY AND SOCIAL SCIENCES EDITION), Journal of Qinghai University for Nationalities (Tibetan Edition) and Qinghai Tibet Plateau forum, have been edited and published. Qinghai ethnic studies ranks among the three core journals of Peking University, Nanjing University and Chinese Academy of social sciences.

The school covers an area of 949.5 mu, with a construction area of 270000 square meters, fixed assets of 420 million yuan, and a total of more than 1.34 million books, including four sets of Chinese and Tibetan versions of the great collection.

The university is a designated education unit for foreign students approved by the Ministry of education, and currently has more than 200 foreign students. The university has cooperation and exchanges with foreign universities such as Dresden University of technology in Germany, Nanshan University in Japan, Eurasia Higher School of management in France, University of Malaya in Malaysia, futherhais State University in the United States, Hannan University in Korea, Sudan International African University, and qinyi University of science and technology, Foguang University, universal University of science and technology in Taiwan.

At present, with full enthusiasm, the staff and students of the university are studying and implementing the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress, the third, fourth, fifth and sixth plenary sessions of the 18th CPC Central Committee and the Sixth National Conference on ethnic education, comprehensively promoting the construction and comprehensive reform of modern university system, continuously improving the strength of the University, and striving to build the university into a first-class university on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau as soon as possible!
