The Second Artillery Engineering University is located in Xi'an, a famous historical and cultural city and the ancient capital of the thirteen dynasties. It is about 20 kilometers away from the city center. It is the only military college in China to cultivate command and technical personnel of strategic missile forces. It is a key college of the whole army and a key construction college of the "2110 project". The school has three colleges (Science College, Junior Command College, Sergeant vocational and Technical Education College), seven professional departments, two graduate management teams and several student brigades. Our school used to be a military academy to train junior commanding officers for ground artillery. In January 1951, Peng Dehuai, commander of the northwest military region, and Xi Zhongxun, political commissar, signed an order to reorganize the artillery School of the northwest military region by merging the artillery training regiment of the northwest military region with the field artillery regiment of the first field army. In March 1951, it was renamed the first artillery School of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. In August 1955, he moved to Xi'an. In February 1956, it was renamed Xi'an artillery School of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. In order to break the nuclear blackmail and nuclear monopoly of Western powers, speed up the establishment of China's strategic missile forces, and first train China's own missile talents, in June 1959, the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission decided to end the ground artillery training task. Relying on the Xi'an artillery school and the training strength of Changxindian artillery training brigade, the school absorbed some teachers and students from the 15th air force aviation school For the sake of confidentiality, the name of Xi'an artillery school was used. On September 1, the first phase of engineering and technician classes began, marking the glorious birth of China's first military academy to train talents for strategic missile forces. In January 1963, it was renamed artillery Technical College of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. In October 1969, he was transferred to the second artillery, and in December he was renamed the Second Artillery technical college. In August 1975, it was renamed the Second Artillery school. In January 1978, it was renamed the Second Artillery technical college. In June 1986, it was renamed the Second Artillery Engineering College. In June 2011, it was transformed into the Second Artillery Engineering University. Since 1959, the school has trained more than 30000 graduates for the army, including more than 100 who have grown into generals. At present, the vast majority of brigade commanders, chief of staff, chief engineers, missile battalions and company commanders of the missile brigade of the Second Artillery Force are graduates of our school and have become the backbone and backbone of the construction of the Second Artillery Force.
