The Institute of modern science and technology of China University of Metrology was established in July 1999 with the approval of Zhejiang Provincial Department of education and the approval of the former State Bureau of quality and technical supervision. It is an independent college with a new school running mechanism and mode. It implements the president responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, charges according to the cost of education, and operates according to the private mechanism. On November 28, 2004, it was officially approved as an independent college by the Ministry of education. The college has five departments and one basic department, including Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of measurement engineering, Department of information engineering, Department of management, Department of Humanities and law. It has 23 undergraduate majors in engineering, management, law, arts, science and economics, with more than 6800 students.

Relying on the school headquarters, the college has strong teachers, advanced teaching facilities, superior school environment, rich teaching resources and strict teaching management. At present, it has a relatively independent campus of more than 400 mu, a teaching and administrative building area of 55000 square meters, a total value of 33.22 million yuan of teaching equipment, and 286000 books (excluding e-books). Among them, the land acquisition area of the teaching area is about 279 mu, with a total construction area of 133000 square meters.
