Sichuan University of Arts and Sciences, located in Dazhou City, east of Sichuan Province, is a land of abundance. Its history can be traced back to Longshan Academy in the late Qing Dynasty. It began to hold higher education in 1976 and was known as Daxian Normal University. In 1978, it was approved by the State Council as a full-time ordinary university and renamed as Daxian normal college and Daxian normal college successively. In February 2006, it was approved by the Ministry of education as an undergraduate university, which is the only provincial general undergraduate university in eastern Sichuan.
