The Institute of foreign affairs is the only university directly under the Ministry of foreign affairs to cultivate talents in foreign affairs, international studies, foreign economy and law. With the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, it has the right to confer three-level degrees, namely, bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree. Founded in 1955, the foreign affairs institute was initiated by Premier Zhou Enlai and approved by the CPC Central Committee. Premier Zhou Enlai's "sixteen character policy" of "stand firm, master policies, be familiar with business and strictly abide by discipline" put forward to our diplomats is our school motto. From 1961 to 1969, vice premier Chen Yi concurrently served as the president of our hospital. The current president is Ambassador Wu Jianmin, chairman of the Bureau of international exhibitions and Deputy Secretary General of the CPPCC National Committee. The Secretary of the Party committee is Professor Qin Yaqing. Our college conscientiously implements the spirit of the inscription "based on the motherland, looking to the world, facing the future, and cultivating talents" made by Comrade Jiang Zemin and the school running policy of "facing the world, facing the future, facing the society, and facing the reality" put forward by Comrade Qian Qichen, and conscientiously implements the outline of China's educational reform and development and the higher education law of the people's Republic of China, We should strengthen the teaching reform, reform the mode and system of running a school, broaden the direction of majors, implement the credit system and the minor system, actively promote the double degree system, adjust the curriculum, update the teaching content, strengthen the moral education curriculum, and strive to comprehensively improve the quality of students, the quality of education and the efficiency of running a school. Our college has always advocated the study style of integrating theory with practice, seeking truth from facts, and being assiduous and rigorous. It attaches great importance to the moral education of students, especially the education of patriotism, collectivism, socialism and national conditions, the education of organization and discipline, and the education of domestic and international situations. The forum and lecture series of the Foreign Affairs College, which are presented by domestic and foreign dignitaries, first-class experts and scholars in various fields, play an important role in activating the academic atmosphere and broadening students' horizons. The college attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' language, research, case handling, communication, cooperation and other five abilities. Therefore, in teaching, it not only attaches importance to the teaching of basic theory, but also attaches importance to the training of basic skills and ability. We should not only pay attention to the improvement of foreign language level, but also pay attention to the mastery of basic knowledge such as Chinese, diplomatic business, economy and law, so as to cultivate compound talents who combine politics and business, foreign language and specialty, theory and practice. Over the years, our institute has trained and transported a large number of qualified foreign affairs cadres for the country. They are active in various fields of China's foreign affairs and have made contributions to China's foreign affairs. Among them, more than 200 have served as ambassadors abroad. Our hospital is known as "the cradle of diplomats". At present, our college has departments of foreign affairs, English, foreign languages, international law, international economics, Graduate Department, international exchange center, College of adult education, Institute of international relations, Institute of international law, East Asia Research Center, etc. In recent years, the school running conditions of our college have been continuously improved, the teaching staff have been further optimized, the books and materials have been increasingly rich, and the teaching equipment has been constantly updated. According to the requirements of the Ministry of education's latest "indicators of basic school running conditions of ordinary colleges and universities", among the colleges and Universities under the central ministries and commissions, the proportion of graduate degree teachers in full-time teachers, the ratio of students to teachers, the average books per student and other school running indicators are among the top. At present, professors and associate professors account for 51.1% of the total number of teachers, and lecturers account for 41.8%. In addition, we have employed many senior Chinese diplomats and international experts as part-time professors, as well as more than 30 foreign experts and teachers in related fields. The college has a relatively complete teaching equipment, with specialized audio-visual education center, language laboratory, audio-visual classroom, simultaneous translation training system, electronic reading room, audio-visual reading room, satellite receiving and transmission, computer campus network and other modern audio-visual education equipment. With elegant environment and complete facilities, the college is a civilized campus named by the central government and Beijing Municipal Commission of education. In order to meet the needs of China's reform and opening up and foreign affairs, foreign affairs and foreign affairs work for all kinds of talents, our college adopts a "multi specification, multi-level and multi form" school running system, enrolling doctoral, master's, second bachelor's and undergraduate students. In addition to recruiting students according to national tasks, our college also holds training courses for foreign diplomats in Africa, Latin America, Asia Africa, Eurasia and ASEAN, refresher courses for in-service cadres in foreign affairs, two-year refresher courses in foreign languages and English improvement courses for diplomatic cadres. The school of adult education of the foreign affairs college enrolls students majoring in foreign languages, law, international economy and trade. Since the second half of 2000, entrusted by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of foreign affairs, our institute has held publicly selected training courses for senior diplomats by stages and in batches. After the training, the trainees have successively taken leadership positions in our embassies and consulates abroad. With the deepening of China's reform and opening up, the exchange between our college and foreign universities is also expanding. At present, our institute has established friendly relations with more than 80 universities or foundations in nearly 50 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Egypt, Oman and Mongolia, Through communication, investigation, lectures and further education, we have sent visiting scholars, postgraduates and teachers to many countries. With the vigorous development of China's socialist modernization drive and the rapid expansion of international exchanges, the Foreign Affairs College, as an important base for cultivating talents in diplomacy, foreign affairs and foreign affairs, is bound to further develop.
