Introduction to Dapingdiao

The original name of Dapingdiao is pingdiao, which is called "pingdiao" because its singing music is lower than that of gaodiao (Shandong Bangzi). The drama has a long history, spread in Northern Henan, Shandong, Southern Hebei and other regions.

Dapingdiao mainly has three schools, namely hedongping, dongluping and xiluping. Chengwu County Dapingdiao belongs to hedongping. It has emerged famous artists such as Niu Yinhe, Niu Yinhai, Shao Bingyu, Niu Guangxuan and Ma mingluan who have great influence in the field of opera. More than 180 plays are often performed in Da Ping Diao. The singing of big flat tune is a kind of board cavity, which absorbs the essence of other dramas. Its melody is pleasant, bright, and varied in style. The unique dance features have an irreplaceable role in the study of ancient folk opera music, and it has a lasting reference to China's national music.

Chengwu County Dapingdiao troupe has been performing all the year round and has won awards in provincial and municipal opera performances for many times. However, due to the social change and the impact of the diversification of the cultural and entertainment industry, the activity position of the big flat tune is shrinking sharply, and the brain drain is serious. The development situation of this kind of drama is relatively severe, and it is in urgent need of protection and inheritance.
