Founded in 1978, the Institute of tourism is the first one in China to train senior talents in tourism management. The college aims to cultivate high-quality tourism management talents with solid foundation, strong practical ability, sense of social responsibility and international vision for the country, especially the capital tourism industry. At present, the college has six undergraduate majors, including tourism management, hotel management, financial management, exhibition economy and management, English and Japanese. Among them, tourism management is a national characteristic specialty construction point, a key construction discipline in Beijing and a master's degree authorization point. The college also has four Higher Vocational Majors, including hotel management, cooking technology and nutrition, and Applied Japanese. At present, there are more than 2300 full-time college students. In recent years, the college has continuously strengthened teaching construction and reform, and achieved a series of landmark achievements in quality engineering construction projects such as national characteristic specialty, national excellent teaching team, Beijing Municipal talent training mode innovation and Beijing Municipal off campus talent training base, and the school running quality has been steadily improved. The Journal of tourism, founded by the college, is the only core journal of tourism in China and the most authoritative professional academic journal recognized by the tourism industry. Adhering to the talent cultivation concept of "erudite and elegant, learning and traveling around the world", the college established "erudite experimental class", concentrated the high-quality teaching resources of the college and the school, and implemented all English teaching. The college has strengthened international exchanges and cooperation, actively explored a new mode of training international high-end tourism talents to meet the needs of the development of the capital's tourism industry, and successively established more than 10 cooperative education projects with France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan and other countries as well as Taiwan, China. Most of the students have the opportunity to participate in overseas exchange study. In recent years, the college has invested more than 20 million yuan to establish a number of domestic advanced professional laboratories, including hotel management laboratory, tourism electronic management laboratory, guide simulation laboratory, simultaneous interpretation room, Japanese culture room, tea art room, wine tasting laboratory, etc. The college adheres to the integration of production, teaching and research, and cooperates with the first tourism group to build "Beijing Municipal off campus talent training base", which provides good conditions for practical teaching. The college attaches great importance to the employment of students and has established a good cooperative relationship with employers. In 2011, the college signed an order with Quanjude Group to train students in hotel management.
