Yunnan Sports Vocational and technical college was approved by the people's Government of Yunnan Province on May 26, 2004 (yzf [2004] No. 58) and put on record by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. It was upgraded from the former Yunnan Sports School. It is a public full-time ordinary higher vocational and technical college that cultivates advanced applied talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, sports and beauty to meet the needs of sports development in Yunnan Province（ Junior college level).

The college is located in the national tourist resort on the shore of Dianchi Lake, adjacent to Yunnan Ethnic Village, Kunming Haigeng sports training base, Dianchi College of Yunnan University, South Campus of Kunming college and Dianchi Lakeside golf course. It covers an area of 256 mu, and plans to acquire more than 100 mu of development land for the college. The campus is open, with trees, flowers and plants covering the ground. The learning and training environment is elegant. At present, there are more than 2200 students in the college People. The college has a comprehensive training hall with an area of more than 10000 square meters, a standard training hall, two football fields, seven outdoor basketball courts and seven volleyball courts, as well as multi-functional teaching buildings, libraries, electronic reading rooms, multimedia rooms and other facilities. At present, the college has more than 200 teaching staff, including 125 teachers and coaches, 26 in Higher Vocational Education and 90 in secondary vocational education, with 40% of double qualified teachers. The college has 14 events, such as track and field, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, judo, boxing, tennis, martial arts, diving, fencing, weightlifting, trampoline, football, basketball and so on. So far, it has trained and transported more than 1000 excellent sports talents for the professional team. Among them, He Qi, Li zewen and so on have grown into outstanding athletes in the sports world. Over the years, three of the reserve talents have won the world championships, eight have participated in the Olympic Games, 12 have won the Asian Championships, and more than 100 have won the national and national championships. At the Athens Olympic Games, which ended in 2004, Li Ji, a student of Grade 2000, won a silver medal in swimming. The college has made great progress in the 29 years of college and secondary school running practice, and has been recognized by the State General Administration of sports and all sectors of society. In 1992, it was awarded the title of "national amateur training advanced unit"; in 1993, it was awarded the title of "national sports advanced unit"; in 1996, it was awarded the title of "national high level sports reserve talent base"; in 2001, it was awarded the title of "national mass sports advanced unit"; in 2004, it was again named as "national high level sports reserve talent base".

At present, the college has two departments of physical education and sports, with a total of five majors. Among them, the two-year college has sports training, sports service and management major, the three-year college has social sports, sports health care, physical education and other majors, which are oriented to the society to recruit Ying, senior high school graduates and three school students, and the five-year higher vocational college has sports training, sports health care, physical education and other majors, which are oriented to the whole province to recruit junior high school graduates. When students complete the courses specified in the teaching plan at school, they will be issued the diploma of national education, which is recognized by the state.
