The PLA Air Force Command College (formerly known as the Air Force College) is located in the famous scenic spot in the western suburbs of Beijing, the summer palace, Kunming Lake, with beautiful scenery. It is an intermediate Command College for training air division and regimental command officers, and the highest Academy for training Air Force Command officers.
The Air Force Command Academy was established in Beijing on September 12, 1958 on the basis of the Air Force Department of Nanjing Military Academy, which was headed by Marshal Liu Bocheng. The first president and political commissar of the Academy was concurrently held by General Liu Zhen, deputy commander of the air force. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, the academy has trained more than 20000 command and staff personnel for the air force. Among them, more than 150 have taken up leadership positions above the army level, and most of them have taken on leading positions in divisions and regiments. Zhou Ziyu, deputy director of the General Political Department, Liu shunyao, commander of the air force and other senior generals graduated from the Air Force Command College. The students with doctor's and master's degrees trained by the college have made many contributions to the construction of the air force and the military academic research and theoretical construction of the air force.
