Yunnan mechanical and electrical vocational and technical college, approved by Yunnan Provincial People's Government in July 2004, is a comprehensive full-time higher vocational and Technical College (college level) with engineering as the main subject and liberal arts and science as the compatible subject. Up to now, the college has nearly 30 years of history of running vocational schools. It has been selected by the Ministry of education as the national secondary vocational education demonstration professional school, national key secondary professional school, national demonstration vocational education training base of numerical control technology, etc.

Located in Ciba, Panlong District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, the college covers an area of 441 mu, with a building area of 130058 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 185.9412 million yuan, 207 sets of numerical control equipment, 783 sets of teaching computers, 46.61 million yuan of teaching instruments and equipment. The library has a collection of more than 250000 books, and more than 400000 electronic journals and books. There are 3867 students in higher vocational colleges.

The college has 277 full-time and part-time teachers, including 143 full-time teachers, accounting for 51.6%, 134 part-time teachers, accounting for 48.4%. Among the full-time teachers, 50 (35%) have the title of deputy senior high or above; 52 (36.36%) have the master's degree or graduate degree or above; 71 (50%) have the technical qualification of "double qualification". There is one provincial excellent teaching team, one provincial famous teacher and one provincial "Huang Yanpei excellent teacher". It has formed a rigorous and progressive teaching team. However, the rationality of the number and structure of teachers needs to be further improved.
