Hunan Urban Vocational College is a full-time vocational college approved by Hunan Provincial People's government and registered by the Ministry of education.

The college is located in Changsha Huanghua International Airport Industrial Park, adjacent to Huanghua International Airport, and adjacent to Changsha National Economic and Technological Development Zone, where 15 world top 500 enterprises have settled down. It has elegant environment, beautiful scenery and convenient transportation. Take bus No.114 to the railway station and get off at the school gate, only 3 kilometers away from the airport.

The college mainly focuses on science and engineering, and also sets up some comprehensive colleges with liberal arts characteristics. The college's floor area, building area, teaching and other rooms, equipment and facilities, teachers, etc. are in line with the standards of the Ministry of education. It has more than 200000 books and 520 kinds of newspapers and magazines. It has more than 30 experimental training rooms, including printing factory, mould factory, numerical control mould, fitter skill welding, electronic technology, digital circuit, analog circuit, electrician, language, physique, academic lecture hall and multimedia.

At present, the college has departments such as Department of information science, Department of civil engineering, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of printing technology, Department of Finance and economics, Department of civil aviation and transportation, Department of foreign languages, School of continuing education, Department of basic courses, etc. it has set up 19 national enrollment programs and 8 undergraduate programs. There are 313 teaching staff, including 188 full-time teachers. There are 61 full-time teachers with the title of deputy senior or above, 65 double qualified teachers and 75 part-time teachers. There are nearly 6000 students in the school.
