Ningxia vocational and Technical College of Finance and economics was approved by the people's Government of the autonomous region in October 2002. It was established in July 2003 by the merger of the former Ningxia finance and economics school and the former Bank of Ningxia school. It is subordinate to the Education Department of the autonomous region.

The college covers an area of 122 mu, with a total construction area of 45000 square meters. During the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period, it plans to cover a total area of 472 mu. The fixed assets are 48.18 million yuan and the collection of books is 380000. At present, there are 194 teaching staff, including 90 full-time teachers, 1 full-time Professor, 35 associate professors, and 45 "double quality" teachers. The college enrolls 3040 full-time students from 8 provinces and autonomous regions in China. The college has 7 administrative departments and 9 teaching, teaching aid and logistics organizations. There are 22 majors in accounting, accounting computerization, financial management and practice, finance and securities, computer application technology, graphics and image production, real estate operation and valuation, taxation, property management, marketing, chain operation management, and Applied English. It has seven on Campus Training laboratories with advanced facilities, including ERP training room, computer application technology training room, computer assembly and maintenance training room, accounting comprehensive training room, financial comprehensive training room, marketing training room and multimedia voice room, 34 fixed off campus training bases, 45 excellent multimedia classrooms and 812 teaching computers. The college has been designated as the information technology training base for primary and secondary school teachers in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and the computer information technology examination station of the vocational skill appraisal center of the Ministry of labor and social security of the people's Republic of China.

During the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period, the overall goal of the college is to closely integrate with market demand and employment, cultivate high and medium skilled applied talents with high quality in production, construction, management and service, gradually build the college into a first-class vocational and technical college in the autonomous region, and then create a National Demonstrative Higher Vocational and technical college.
