Hangzhou vocational and technical college is a higher vocational and technical college sponsored by Hangzhou Municipal People's government. Based on the original six staff universities and two technical secondary schools of Hangzhou Economic and Trade Commission, the college was established in March 1998 with the approval of the former State Education Commission and in January 2002 with the approval of Zhejiang Provincial People's government. In 2007, the college was rated as the National Excellent School of talent training level evaluation in higher vocational colleges.

The college is located in Hangzhou, known as "paradise on earth", in Xiasha "University City", adjacent to Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of more than 1000 mu. There are 4 departments and 3 institutes including Department of management engineering, Department of art, Department of chemical engineering, Department of information electronics, Youjia electromechanical College (jointly built with Youjia industrial group), Xintong International College (jointly built with Xintong International), and School of continuing education. Mold design and manufacturing, numerical control technology, mechatronics, e-commerce, fashion design, computer communication, and fine chemicals production are set up Technology and other 34 majors. At present, there are nearly ten thousand students on campus.

The college has all kinds of professional teaching and training facilities, including a horticultural technology training base supported by the central government, a municipal key mold laboratory, a higher vocational science and Technology (student) Pioneer Park in Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, a national professional skill appraisal station for chemical industry, Zhejiang mold software topsolid training and appraisal center, and Hangzhou Electromechanical, chemical and fashion design professional skills appraisal center In addition, it has cooperated with Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone to set up the staff quality education base and "blue collar talent" project; the training base of Hangzhou vocational and technical college and Hangzhou public training base, which is open to the whole city and with an investment of 300 million yuan by the municipal government and covers an area of 30 mu, is under construction; it has cooperated with Hangzhou Library to realize the co construction and sharing of resources Besides, many off campus practice and training bases have been set up.

The college has also been rated as "Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone to promote employment top ten units", "Hangzhou staff education and training demonstration base", "Hangzhou safe demonstration campus", "Hangzhou comprehensive management advanced unit", "Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone civilized unit" and so on. In October 2003, when Wang Guoping, member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang provincial Party committee and Secretary of Hangzhou municipal Party committee, inspected the college, he fully affirmed the development of the college and happily wrote an inscription: to build an aircraft carrier of Higher Vocational Education in Hangzhou.

Facing the future, the college has made clear that its strategic goal in the next three years is to build a provincial leading and domestic first-class demonstrative higher vocational college.
