Xi'an Institute of transportation engineering is a full-time regular undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. Founded in 1994, it is the only regular undergraduate college in Shaanxi Province with rail transit major. The college is composed of Xi'an Fuyi campus and high tech campus. The main campus of Fuyi is located on the East Bank of Fupi lake, a famous scenic spot in Chang'an, the capital of Tang Dynasty. It covers an area of 623 mu, with a total building area of 244000 square meters. The college has a library of 29700 square meters, with a collection of 500000 paper books and 500000 e-books.

The college has a strong faculty. A large number of excellent teachers with high academic qualifications and professional titles are gathered. Among the teachers, doctoral and master's degrees account for nearly 60% of the total number of teachers.

The college's disciplines and specialties are mainly engineering, forming three major groups of rail transit, electrical information and economic management. At present, there are 13 undergraduate majors and 23 Higher Vocational Majors, with more than 10000 students. The college adheres to the development idea of "building the school with quality, strengthening the school with talents, prospering the school with characteristics, and casting the school with culture". In accordance with the construction idea of "highlighting characteristics, system integration, uniting the masses, and doing their best", the college has constructed the large system of rail transit discipline and specialty system, and concentrated all kinds of resources of the college to support the construction of the large system of rail transit.

The college is the only governing unit of the rail transit Professional Committee of the Chinese society of vocational education. Professor Zhang Jinsheng, President of the college, is the executive director of the Professional Committee; the member unit of the president alliance of China Russia Jiaotong University China rail transit application technology talent training alliance; and the member unit of the China Urban Rail Transit Association.

The "Ministry of education ZTE ICT production and education integration innovation base" constructed by the college is one of the innovative application technology talent training mode bases jointly built by the Ministry of education and ZTE in 30 colleges and universities in China, and is the only one in Shaanxi colleges and universities to sign a contract. At present, the college has built four provincial key majors, namely communication technology, urban rail transit operation management, electrical automation technology and urban rail transit control, highlighting the advantages of rail transit and electrical information specialty group construction. "Urban rail transit training base" and "metro vehicle structure and application training base" are respectively identified as "provincial higher vocational education training base" and "Provincial Higher Vocational demonstration training base". A new 23000 square meter practical teaching center building has been built, and a 425 meter rail transit comprehensive practice base integrating electrified railway lines and supporting electric rail cars, communication signal systems, traction substations and stations has been built; meanwhile, the college has also built 22 practice training bases in enterprises and institutions outside the school.

The college has taken positive measures to open up channels for graduates' employment, and has established school enterprise cooperation with more than 70 enterprises. In recent years, the employment rate has always remained above 95%.
