In order to realize the strategy of revitalizing the city through science and education of Shanghai municipal government, and to cultivate talents who are in urgent need of "advanced manufacturing industry and modern service industry" facing the future, with the strong support of Shanghai municipal government, Shanghai Polytechnic University, a key development University of Shanghai, together with 9 world-class universities such as Sheffield University and Leeds University, co founded Sino British International College of Shanghai Polytechnic University.

Sino British International College of Shanghai Polytechnic University is a secondary college of non independent legal person under Shanghai Polytechnic University. It is also a leading international college in China, which introduces high-quality educational resources from overseas first-class universities in a systematic, large-scale and intensive way. Approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China in 2006, the college mainly implements bachelor's degree education, degree education and overseas bachelor's degree education. It is also one of the few Chinese foreign cooperative universities adopting the "one to many" mode in China.

The campus of Sino British International College of Shanghai Polytechnic University is located in Fuxing Road Campus of Shanghai Polytechnic University. It is located in the center of Shanghai with convenient transportation, beautiful environment, prosperous business and rich cultural atmosphere. At present, the college has established the school of business and communication, the school of engineering and the school of language, education and culture. It has the Department of Finance and finance, the Department of business administration, the Department of exhibition management, the Department of electronic and electrical engineering, the Department of mechanical engineering, as well as the teaching center of academic English (EAP) and the teaching center of physics and mathematics. The college has more than 150 faculty members, of which nearly 80 are composed of senior foreign teachers from 21 different countries and regions around the world. The grand graduation ceremony held in the summer of 2014 marks the successful awarding of the bachelor's degree of the fourth Sino British International College / Shanghai Polytechnic University to the British university after completing their studies in full English in Shanghai. The two UK partner universities are John Morse University of Liverpool, which majors in mechanical design and manufacturing, automation and electronic information science and technology, and Huddersfield University, which majors in exhibition economics and management. It is worth mentioning that the employment rate and master's admission rate of 2014 graduates are as high as 96%. Graduates with excellent academic achievements, high employment rate and a high sense of social responsibility, has been widely praised from all walks of life.

The establishment and development of the Sino British Institute of international studies has been strongly supported by the Chinese and British governments and all sectors of society. The British Minister of trade and industry, the Minister of innovation, University and skills affairs, members of Parliament, the Minister of education and skills of the cabinet and other political figures have visited the Sino British International College.
