The college was founded in 1978, formerly known as the first branch of Beijing Institute of Technology (now Beijing University of Technology). After more than 30 years of development, the college has become an ordinary undergraduate college focusing on economics and management.

The college has eight undergraduate programs, including Business Administration (International Business Management), financial management, exhibition economy and management, marketing (International Logistics), international economy and trade, finance, information management and information system, and e-commerce, with more than 2200 full-time students. Supported by the master's degree authorization point of the first-class discipline of business administration and the key construction disciplines such as international trade and management science and engineering, the college takes six research institutes such as service economy and Trade Research Institute, International Business Research Institute and Convention and Exhibition economic research center as the research platform, and takes the development of modern service industry in the capital as the research feature, with a group of deep attainments in this discipline Professor, doctor as the leader, leading the rapid construction and development of various disciplines.

The college always adheres to the direction of training applied talents and serving the local economy, adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school with talents, and carries out the construction of applied disciplines and personnel training in order to meet the needs of the development and construction of the capital's international city. At present, the college has more than 140 full-time teachers. More than 90% of the teachers have doctor's or master's degrees. More than one third of the teachers have the experience of going abroad for further study, visiting scholars and training, and carry out academic exchanges and cooperation.

During the "Eleventh Five Year Plan" period, the total scientific research funds of the Institute amounted to more than 10.42 million yuan, and more than 840 scientific research papers were published, of which more than 50% were core journals, more than 110 monographs and translated works were published, 35 projects were undertaken at provincial and ministerial level, bureau, committee and office level, and 34 horizontal projects were undertaken.

The college always adheres to the motto of "learning for application", adheres to the educational concept of people-oriented and promoting the all-round development of students, and takes the cultivation of applied international business talents with international vision, social responsibility, innovative spirit and practical ability as its fundamental mission. It constantly strengthens teaching construction, deepens education and teaching reform, and innovates talent training mode. In 2009, the college established the "applied international business talents training mode innovation experimental zone", which fully introduces and learns from foreign advanced teaching concepts and high-quality teaching resources, so that more students can enjoy the high-quality education services of advanced countries without going abroad.

The college attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation. Since 2000, it has cooperated with the University of western Scotland (formerly the University of Paisley) in running a "3 + 1" dual degree school. So far, more than 620 students have studied in the UK, 85% of them choose to continue to study for a master's degree abroad, and many of them have obtained or are studying for a doctor's degree in the UK. The college also cooperates with the Hong Kong Institute of education, Lingnan University, Northumbria University, Winnipeg University, etc. Since 2006, a total of 100 international students from more than 20 countries have come to the college for further study.

The college pays attention to the cultivation of students' English application ability. By taking measures such as English intensive learning, bilingual teaching and all English teaching, the college makes students achieve remarkable results in CET-4 and CET-6, National College English contest and CCTV Cup National College English speech contest every year. In order to improve students' foreign language ability and employment competitiveness, the college has tried out English Teaching in some majors since 2006, and achieved good results. In 2011, the college will continue to run all English teaching classes on a trial basis, and will choose the best candidates from the candidates who apply for the major of economic management and international economy and trade.

The college has advanced teaching facilities and a number of laboratories to adapt to the cultivation of international business talents. Among them, the "economic and trade experimental teaching center" is the Beijing Municipal experimental teaching demonstration center, which provides a good learning and experimental environment for the cultivation of students' professional practice ability. In addition, the college makes full use of off campus practice teaching base, school enterprise cooperation and a large number of social practice activities to cultivate students with strong professional comprehensive practical ability.

Students actively participate in the "Challenge Cup" undergraduate business plan competition, liberal arts computer competition, mathematical modeling competition, undergraduate research plan and other events and projects, and have achieved good results, which improves students' comprehensive practical ability and employment competitiveness, and improves the school running level and social reputation of the college.

Over the years, college graduates with a strong foreign language, professional, practical style, flexible mind, good interpersonal characteristics are widely welcomed by the community, the average employment rate in the past three years has remained at more than 99.3%.
