The school of continuing education of China University of political science and law is a school running entity specialized in adult diploma education and continuing education.

The development of the college is closely related to the fate of the University. In 1952, at the beginning of the founding of the University, according to the needs of the people's government for political and legal talents at that time, it involved in the field of adult education in the form of in-service cadre training. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, in order to solve the shortage of political and legal professionals and meet the needs of political and legal cadres' In-service Learning, our university established the correspondence department, the functional department of adult higher education management, in November 1981, and formally recruited the first correspondence students of law major in 1982. In February 1992, the Ministry of adult education was established on the basis of the Ministry of correspondence education. In 1993, in order to meet the social needs of Beijing, adult higher education in the form of night University was held. In January 1996, the University abolished the Ministry of adult education and established the College of adult education of China University of political science and law, marking a new stage in the development of adult higher education. In June 2002, the school carried out the internal institutional reform, and the school of adult education was renamed as the school of continuing education. The goal of running the school is to cultivate applied talents with certain theoretical basis and strong practical ability, and the development idea is to adjust the structure of running the school, improve the means of running the school, improve the level of running the school, and improve the quality of teaching.

In March 2009, according to the requirements put forward by the central leadership, combined with the basic goal of the development of our school, we adjusted the function of the College of continuing education. Its basic orientation is "adult diploma education and non diploma education coexist, and strive to develop high-level continuing education". According to the new functional orientation, the Institute of continuing education has set up a comprehensive office, judicial examination center (Judicial Examination Institute), judicial Vocational Education Center, adult education center, project research and development center, overseas education center, government and enterprise management education center, and vocational ability education center to undertake the corresponding functions of the Institute.

The judicial examination center (College of judicial examination) is mainly responsible for the training of students' judicial examination skills, the training of social examinees, the organization of judicial examination system research and the compilation of judicial examination materials and other functions.

The judicial vocational education center is mainly responsible for the entrusted project training of trainee lawyers, professional training of professional lawyers, police training of procuratorial and judicial system, postgraduate courses and cadre rotation training of judicial vocational system.

The adult education center mainly undertakes the functions of enrollment, teaching implementation, correspondence Station management, education and teaching development evaluation of adult diploma education. At present, there is only one law major. There are three forms of school running: Night University, correspondence education and full-time (off-duty). In accordance with the spirit of the notice of the Ministry of education on Further Strengthening the management of adult higher education and continuing education in Institutions of higher learning under the Ministry of Education (JG [2007] No. 9), the recruitment of adult full-time classes has been stopped since 2007.

The project R & D center is mainly responsible for the evaluation and construction of existing projects, market development, project expansion, project promotion planning and implementation plan, new project operation plan and other functions.

The overseas education center mainly undertakes the functions of establishing college level cooperation with foreign universities, undergraduate and graduate level preparatory education and training, teachers' exchange visits to overseas universities, and teenagers' summer camp in overseas universities.

The government and enterprise management education center is mainly responsible for the government system's governance ability training, enterprise management ability and related business training, government system and industry postgraduate courses, and the establishment of cooperation with the government and industry associations.

The vocational ability education center mainly undertakes the functions of reemployment, professional qualification training and on-the-job qualification training. There are three professional directions: foreign legal affairs, legal news and legal secretary. With the employment of students as the training goal, we should strengthen the professional quality education of students and at the same time join the ability training, so that students can better adapt to the needs of society and become real application-oriented talents.

At present, the college has nearly 5000 students of all kinds. Among them, there are more than 200 full-time students, more than 2200 night university students and more than 2400 correspondence students. Among them, full-time students study in Changping teaching area. Night university students study in Xueyuan Road Campus. Correspondence students are distributed in 19 correspondence stations in 15 provinces and autonomous regions. In the past 28 years, our adult higher education has trained nearly 50000 graduates for our country. Among them, there are more than 23000 undergraduates, and more than 10000 of them have obtained bachelor's degree in law.
