The College of humanities, science and technology of Guizhou University for nationalities is an independent college with new mechanism. The college was established in May 2001 with the approval of Guizhou Provincial People's government and began to recruit students. The college runs the school in strict accordance with the Ministry of education's No.8 document in 2003 and the "measures for the establishment and management of independent colleges" (No.26 order). The college passed the special inspection of the Ministry of education and was confirmed by the Ministry of education in January 2004.

The campus of the College of humanities, science and technology is close to the north of the headquarters of Guizhou University for Nationalities and is located on the Bank of the beautiful Huaxi River. The students enrolled by the college belong to the national unified enrollment plan, and the majors offered by the college are the dominant and popular majors of Guizhou University for nationalities. The existing majors include law, computer science and technology, information and computing science, Chinese language and literature, journalism, radio and television journalism, information management and information system, tourism management, marketing, labor and social security, and human resource management , English, fine arts, Fine Arts (calligraphy), art design, musicology, Musicology (Lusheng performance), physical education, etc. At present, there are eight teaching departments including law department, Chinese Department, foreign language department, computer science department, management science department and physical education department. In 2004, the College of humanities, science and technology began to recruit students from outside the province. It has students from Guizhou, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangxi, Yunnan, Sichuan and Chongqing. By September 2009, there were 4200 students of all nationalities.

At present, the college has 65 full-time management personnel and 6 organizers. According to the 1:200 requirement of the Ministry of education, the college has completed the full-time head teacher management. There are 13 part-time professors, 256 regular teachers, 131 associate professors or above, accounting for more than 50% of the total number of teachers, and 35% of the teachers have master's degree or above.
