Zhongzhou University was founded in 1980. Chen Yun, a proletarian revolutionist of the older generation and then vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee, inscribed the name of the University.

The university is located in the north university town of Zhengzhou City, the capital of Henan Province, covering an area of more than 1000 mu. Zhongzhou University, with high starting point, high standard and high quality construction, is full of vitality. The campus is full of trees and elegant environment, which is an ideal place for students to study.

The school has 14 teaching institutions, including the College of engineering and technology, the College of chemical engineering and food, the College of information engineering, the College of management, the College of economics and trade, the College of culture and communication, the College of art, the College of physical education, the College of foreign languages, the College of art and design for the deaf, the College of continuing education, the Teaching Department of moral education, the Teaching Department of physical education and the Teaching Department of five-year college. The school library has a collection of more than 1.13 million books and 1697 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals. The library realizes the computer automatic management of book borrowing and inquiry, and has an electronic reading room, which can accommodate more than 4000 people at the same time. Since its establishment 28 years ago, the school has trained more than 40000 professionals for the society, who play an important role in various fields and fronts.
