Shanghai Institute of Tourism

Shanghai Tourism College was founded in 1979 as "Shanghai Tourism College" under the jurisdiction of Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office. In 1980, it was renamed "Shanghai Tourism College" with the approval of the Ministry of education. In 1983, it was under the dual leadership of Shanghai Tourism Administration and higher education bureau. In 1986, it was under the leadership of National Tourism Administration. In 1992, it was renamed "Shanghai Tourism College"; In 2000, it was under the leadership of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. In 2003, it was under the management of Shanghai Normal University and merged with the former school of city and tourism of Shanghai Normal University to form the school of tourism of Shanghai Normal University.

Shanghai Tourism College and Tourism College of Shanghai Normal University are educational institutions with two names at the same time. Shanghai Tourism College is an independent legal entity. In 2011, it successfully passed the acceptance of the National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College Construction Plan of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance, becoming the only National Demonstrative Higher Vocational College of tourism in China.

Since its establishment for more than 30 years, the university has trained more than 50000 talents at all levels, of which two-thirds of the graduates are stable in the tourism industry, and a considerable number of graduates hold positions above the Department Manager of tourism enterprises or the leading positions of government tourism administrative departments, which has won the University a good social reputation.

The school has 13 specialties, including hotel management (including Sino Canadian cooperation), tourism management, leisure service and management, exhibition planning and management, accounting, e-commerce, tourism English, Tourism Japanese, Applied Korean, applied Spanish, cooking technology and nutrition, Western food technology, and catering management.

The school has more than 190 professional teachers, including more than 80 teachers with senior teacher titles and senior technician titles. At the same time, the university has a group of domestic well-known leaders in tourism, exhibition, geography and other disciplines. Most of the teachers have master's or doctoral degrees or professional qualification certificates, and have the experience of further study in international universities and temporary training in the industry. In addition, a team of more than 150 part-time teachers has been set up.

The school covers an area of 326 mu, with a construction area of more than 30000 square meters of teaching practice place. At the same time, the university has established more than 150 cooperative education bases and student internship and employment bases in China and abroad, cities and provinces, enterprises and middle schools. At present, the school library has more than 360000 paper books, 160000 tourism e-books, more than 400 kinds of Chinese and foreign newspapers, and a total of 20tb multimedia resources, providing a strong literature information guarantee for the school's teaching and scientific research.

Currently, the school is a member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), vice chairman of the Executive Committee of APEC tourism education and training organization (apeit), member of PATA, member of ieia, vice president unit of tourism education branch of China Tourism Association, president unit of tourism education branch of Shanghai Tourism Industry Association, and vice president unit of Shanghai catering and cooking association Director unit, director unit of Shanghai Tourism Vocational Education Group. The university is a member of the T10 alliance of China's famous tourism schools and a member of the five-star alliance of China's tourism universities.
