The national security service of the Hong Kong police arrested five directors of companies suspected of violating the national security law of Hong Kong early on the 17th. Five of them are being detained for investigation. Hong Kong police said the five arrested included Zhang Jianhong, chief executive of one media group, Zhou Daquan, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of one media group, Luo Weiguang, editor in chief of Apple Daily, Chen Peimin, vice president of apple news, and Zhang Zhiwei, director of apple news platform.
On the morning of June 17, the police force of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced that the national security service of the police force executed a court warrant issued by the court in accordance with Article 43 (1) of the Hong Kong National Security Law (the law) and Schedule 1 to the implementation rules to search the office building of Apple Daily, a media organization located in Tseung Kwan O. The warrant gives the police the power to search, including news materials, for a suspected violation of the national security law.
Police said the arrested included four men and one woman, aged between 47 and 63. The arrested person is suspected of violating Article 29 of the national security law of the people's Republic of China on the crime of conspiracy to collude with foreign countries or foreign forces to endanger national security.
