Write "Ode to the red flag" in a week
Many viewers have heard "Ode to the red flag" on TV and radio, which can be called the memory of generations. Many people know about Lu Qiming because of his ode to the red flag.
In 1965, the opening ceremony of the "Shanghai Spring" concert needed a new work with great momentum. The older generation of musicians gave him the task and put it on the title of "Ode to the red flag".
Entrusted with an important task, Lu Qiming was nervous and excited, and repeatedly thought about the starting point. This theme triggered his memories of the eventful years and his feelings for the red flag. "The red flag is a symbol of revolution. Wherever there are revolutionaries fighting, there are red flags flying. It is under the guidance of the red flag that we usher in one victory after another."
He forgets to write. When he is tired, he sleeps for a while, and then gets up to fight. After a week's hard work day and night, he wrote "Ode to the red flag".
"Ode to the red flag" premiered at the opening ceremony of the sixth "Shanghai Spring" in 1965. It vividly depicts the solemn scene of the first five-star red flag rising at the founding ceremony on October 1, 1949. It was jointly premiered by Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Film Orchestra and Shanghai Orchestra and quickly spread across the country.
"Over the years, ode to the red flag has been loved by the audience. The most fundamental reason is that the love of the motherland and the red flag in the music resonates and moves with the audience's love of the motherland and the red flag." Lu Qiming once said so.
A composer growing up in a revolutionary family
Lu Qiming was born in Anhui Wuwei and grew up in a revolutionary family. During the Anti Japanese War, his father LV Huisheng actively participated in the Anti Japanese national salvation movement. He once served as the director of Wanjiang Anti Japanese base administrative office of the seventh division of the New Fourth Army. LV Qiming was deeply influenced by his father when he was a child.
In 1940, the anti enemy troupe of the second division of the New Fourth Army was going to perform the opera "rural opera", which required young actors to play Xiao Mao, a runaway child. Lu Qiming became a member of the anti enemy troupe when he was only 10 years old.
At the age of 15, he joined the Communist Party of China and vowed to fight for communism all his life under the light of the oil lamp in his hometown.
In May 1949, Shanghai was liberated. As a literary and art soldier, LV Qiming entered Shanghai with the literary and art troupe of the East China military region. After changing his career, he came to Shanghai Film Studio, worked as a violinist in an orchestra, and studied composition seriously.
The opportunity finally came. At the invitation of director Zhao Mingzhi, 26 year old Lu Qiming composed a song for the film railway guerrillas, a song "playing my beloved Pipa", which spread all over the country.
According to statistics, 95% of Lu Qiming's works are eulogizing the motherland, the people and the revolutionary cause, and they are all the main themes.
He once mentioned that all his works are written for the sake of the motherland and the people, which he vowed on the day of joining the party. For him, it is not a slogan, but a lifelong lofty vocation and sacred mission.
"I'm still young, and I can continue to write"
Today, Lu Qiming, who is 91 years old, still insists on creating.
Some time ago, a press conference was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. LV Qiming also came to the scene and witnessed the "sailing" of the "red classic drama season".
"I'm 91 years old and I think I'm still young and can continue to write," he said. These days, I am working hard day and night to revise a new version of my work. For me, this work is as important as ode to the red flag, and it's also a small gift for the Centennial birthday of the Communist Party of China. "
Serving and creating for the people wholeheartedly is the starting point of all LV Qiming's actions and his belief and pursuit in music life.
In Lu Qiming's view, only when artists have a heart for their motherland and people can they create excellent works worthy of the times. "Truly excellent works of art can be spread and retained, not a gust of wind."( (end)
