[animal morphology] Rana chensinensis

The male frog is smaller with a body length of 28 mm, while the female frog is larger with a body length of about 39 mm. The back of the body is green, the side and abdomen are white; there is a clear dark brown fine line from the back corner of the eye to the upper shoulder; there are black spots on the side of the body, or connected into thick black lines, or intermittently arranged in rows. The width of the head is larger than the length of the head, the width of the snout is round and high, the edge of the snout is obvious, there are two nostrils above the snout, the distance between the eyes is larger than the distance between the nose, and the tympanic membrane behind the eyes is round and clear. The skin on the back is smooth, the chest abdomen and thigh abdomen are densely covered with verruca plana, and the pharynx is slightly smooth. The forelimbs, palms and fingers are about half the length of the body. There are suction cups and transverse grooves at the fingertips, and the base is slightly webbed. The hind limb is long, the toe end is the same as the finger end, but the suction cup is slightly small, the web of the lateral three toes is more developed than that of the medial, and there are small warts in the palm and lame part. The male frog has a single pharyngeal external vocal sac with deep pharyngeal color, bulging into a ball when he calls, and a light brown wedding pad at the base of the first finger of the forelimb.

Creeping in crevices of Fujian, roosting in caves after heavy rain in April or at night. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Henan, Sichuan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, etc.

[collection] catch it in summer dog days (do not damage it), bake it on slate or tile, and grind it for standby.
