[plant morphology] Nitraria tangutorum

Dwarf shrub, about 1.2 meters high. Bark grayish brown, verrucous; branches brown, nearly glabrous, with sharp spines. The leaflets are 11-21, long obovate, 7-12 mm long and 4-7 mm wide. The apex is slightly concave, with small spines pointed, the base is round, the whole margin is covered with sparsely flat white hairs. Inflorescence racemose on the top of old branches; flowers sparse and downward curved, about 6-12, white or blue white, with short pedicels; calyx small, cup-shaped, 5 shallow teeth, purple blue; corolla 1.5 cm long, flag petal obovate to spoon shaped, base of petal with obtuse ears. Pods 3-6 cm long, about 5 mm thick, beaded, long beaked, densely white, procumbent villous, 3-5 nodes. Seeds elliptic. The flowering period is from March to May.

Growing on hillside, roadside, Bush or grass slope. Distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Gansu, Henan, Shanxi, Hebei and other places.
