[plant morphology] yaerqin

Herbaceous perennial, 30-90 cm high. The roots grow in clusters. The stem is erect with forked branches. Leaf blade broad ovate, 5-18 cm long, 3-out, middle leaflet rhomboid obovate, 3-10 cm long, 2.5-7 cm wide, apex short pointed, base cuneate, both leaflets obliquely obovate, leaflet margin serrate or sometimes 2-3-lobed, petiole 5-17 cm long; leaves on stem sessile, leaves reduced, leaflets lanceolate. The compound umbel is panicle shaped, with 4-10 pedicels of unequal length. The involucre and small involucre each have 1-3 linear premature bracts and bracteoles. Small umbel with 2-4 flowers; white flowers, sometimes purplish; calyx teeth not show; petal tip curved inward; petiole linear, very unequal, short only 3 mm.
