[plant morphology] Polygonum multiflorum

Perennial herbs. Stem thick purplish red, pubescent, many branches, lower creeping, node with adventitious roots, upper oblique rise, long branches up to 20 cm. Leaf blade broad cordate, 25 mm long, 19 mm wide, apex obtuse, entire, base cuneate, pale green above, paler below, margin with greenish red dots; stipe ca. 5 mm long. Flowers yellow, solitary in axils of branches, dense; bracts ovate or suborbicular; pale green, lower edge purplish red; pedicels very short; flower diameter about 8 mm; calyx 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate, 6 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, extremely pubescent; corolla whorled, lower part connate, lobes 5-ovate, apex acute, imbricate; stamens 5-lobed, different in length, about 6 mm long 5-8 mm; ovary superior, ovate, long white pilose, 1-locular. The fruit is a capsule with many seeds and persistent calyx. The flowering period is from March to April.

Born on the sunny side of the road. It is distributed in Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan.
