Deciduous shrub or small tree, 2-6m high. Bark gray white, not flaking; buds with short hair, the rest bald. Leaves opposite; compound, 4.5-8 cm long petiole; leaflets 3, oblong or oblong, 5-15 cm long, 2-5.5 cm wide, papery, apex long pointed, base gradually narrowed into a short petiole, entire. Flowers unisexual, panicle, axillary, with nearly opposite and expanded branches, pubescent; bracteoles triangular; calyx 4, oblong, less than 1 mm long, with short hairs; petals 4, yellow, ovoid, less than 1.5 mm long; stamens 4, twice longer than petals of male flowers; ovary of female flowers superior, 4-locular, hairy, style short hairy, stigma 4-lobed. The fruit consists of 4 separate carpels, 4-6 mm in diameter, with 1-3 undeveloped carpels. Seeds black, rounded, ca. 3 mm in diam., glossy. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from November to December.
