(Mindong materia medica)

[synonyms] Pulsatilla (Diannan materia medica), Pulsatilla (empirical identification of traditional Chinese Medicine) and rabbitae (Guiyang folk herb).

[source] it is the root and rhizome of the plant of Compositae. For the plant morphology, please refer to "Sargassum tomentosum".

[collection] dig in summer and autumn, remove the mud and sand from stems and leaves, and dry them in the sun.

[medicinal material] dry root and rhizome, 7-10 cm long. The rhizome is cylindrical, 1-3cm long, 4mm in diameter; the upper end is thick, with brown dry petiole base, and gray white wool; the rhizome is dark brown in appearance, rough and shrunken, surrounded by many complete or broken fibrous roots; it is hard, the broken surface is uneven, fibrous, light yellow, the skin is thin, the stele is large, the catheter is radial, and the central part has pith. The fibrous root is slender, about 1-1.5 mm in diameter, yellowish brown, brittle and easy to break, with white skin and yellowish wood. Slightly coke gas, bitter taste.

Produced in Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
