About 0.5% of the essential oil was obtained by steam distillation, which contained eugenol, α - pinene, β - pinene, camphene, α - Terpinene, γ - Terpinene, β - phellandrene, linalool, oxidized trans linalool, sabinene, α - apine, β - farnesene, α - bergamotene, curcumene, caryophyllene oxide, etc.

In addition, it contains piperidine, which is an odor substance. Wild hemp has a very bad odor, that is, it contains more piperidine.

[pharmacological action] ① effect on central nervous system

Hemp or Indian Hemp (mainly female flowers, spikes and a small amount of fruits, leaflets and thin stems) has a special effect on people's mental state. The effect on the central nervous system may vary according to the dosage, route of administration and the special environment of medication, especially having a great relationship with personality. After taking it, you may have ups and downs of thoughts, mental excitement, self-conscious euphoria, or indulge in depression or panic. If you take it for a long time, you will lose your ability to work. These effects are mainly caused by the tetrahydrocannabinol contained in it. Long term use can produce tolerance, even higher than the lethal dose. Withdrawal does not occur. When taken orally, it needs a larger dose to produce the same degree of effect as when inhaled, and the effect occurs slowly, which may be caused by the destruction of the active ingredients by the digestive juice, or by the destruction of part of the active ingredients through the liver. The effect of Δ 9-THC on the central nervous system of animals is both excitatory and inhibitory. The spontaneous activity of animals is inhibited, but it is more sensitive to external stimulation. It can prolong the sleep time of barbiturates, but it also has a synergistic effect on the increase of spontaneous activity caused by amphetamine. Intraperitoneal injection in mice has obvious antinociceptive (analgesic) effect (hot plate method).

② Antibacterial action

Hemp produced in Europe has antibacterial effect. Its active components are acidic, non crystalline substances with phenolic or carboxyl groups. It is difficult to dissolve in water, but can be dissolved in ether, petroleum ether and other solvents. 1: It can inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis at 150000, but has no effect on Gram negative Escherichia coli typhoid, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus. Whole blood, plasma and serum can partially inactivate this component and reduce its antibacterial effect. For Staphylococcus aureus, when the concentration is 1:100, it can be killed immediately; when the concentration is 1:10000, it takes 8 hours. It can be used to disinfect oral cavity, ear nose throat and skin.

The median lethal dose (LD50) for mice and rats were 485.2 mg and 485.2 mg, respectively. The symptoms of poisoning were dyskinesia, hyperreflexia, followed by inhibition, disappearance of righting reflex, dyspnea and even death. Pulmonary congestion and edema were found in postmortem anatomy, and no obvious abnormality was found in other organs.
