[plant morphology] galanga officinalis

Perennial herbs. Rhizome creeping, fleshy. Stem slender, even inflorescence less than 1 m high. Leaves 2-row, lanceolate, 15-25 cm long, 3.5-7 cm wide, apex acuminate, base narrowly long cuneate; with short petiole; tongue very short, truncate or 2-lobed, apex often hairy: petiole sheathing amplexicaul. Racemose panicle terminal, 10-15 cm long, branches very short, the lower part of 2-3 flowers; the lowest bracts rectangular round, white, flowering is not obvious; calyx tubular, 3-4 mm long; flowers sessile, white, with red spots, tube length about 5 mm, lobes rectangular round, lip broad ovate, sessile, apex concave; stamen 1, staminode small, petal shaped; ovary 1 Next.
