[source] it is the root of alum huashanense, which belongs to alumaceae family. The plant morphology is detailed in "alum huashanense".

[collection] it can be harvested all year round. After the roots are dug out, they are washed and dried in the sun.

[herbal medicine] the dried root is cylindrical, straight or curved, with nodular protuberance on the surface, irregular longitudinal crack and sometimes small branch root mark; the cork is brownish yellow, often flaky. It is hard to break. The cross section is nearly round, the outer part of the bark is brown yellow, the inner part is light yellow, the cambium is clear, the wood is gray white to light yellow, the rays are slender, not significant, there are ring rings.

[clinical application] 1

The roots of Changshan mountain were sliced and dried in the sun. One kilogram of crude medicine, half a kilogram of wine, soak for one night, stir fry thoroughly, grind and sift, or add appropriate amount of gum to press into a lozenge for oral use. 3 g daily for 3-5 years old, 4 g daily for 6-8 years old, 6 g daily for 9-12 years old, 9 g daily for 13-15 years old, 11 g daily for 16-20 years old, 12 g daily for 21-30 years old, 15 g daily for 31-45 years old, 12 g daily for 46-50 years old and 11 g daily for over 50 years old. Take it twice, 5 days as a course of treatment. Those who are improved but not cured will continue the second course of treatment, no more than three courses at most. 27 cases were treated (19 cases of falciparum malaria, 3 cases of vivax malaria, 3 cases of malarial infection, 2 cases of mixed infection), 23 cases of basic control of symptoms. However, microscopic examination showed that the effect on protozoa was not satisfactory.

② Treatment of chronic tracheitis

Take 1 liang of Huashan alum root, 1 liang of Ilex pubescens root, 5 yuan of pig bone, add water and simmer to about 250 ml, take it warm once a day (not cold to avoid nausea), 10 times as a course of treatment. In combination with syndrome differentiation and typing, it is suitable to combine with other drugs. For cold cases, add ginger and tangerine peel in proper amount. For dyspnea cases, add 1 liang of tubeiqi (wuzhimaotao). For wheezing cases, add 0.5 ~ 1 yuan of Elaeagnus leaf powder. A total of 190 cases were treated, including 77 cases (40.5%) with short-term control, 60 cases (31.3%) with marked effect and 33 cases (17.4%) with improvement. In the course of treatment, a small number of patients have dizziness, nausea, salivation and other side effects, but do not affect the treatment, after the end of the course of treatment can disappear.
