Erect herb, 20-30 cm high, tomentose. The fibrous roots are rusty yellow. The leaves are lanceolate, 0.5 "- 2.5 cm in length and 0.3-0.5 cm in width. Flowers small, axillary, arranged in spikes; calyx spatulate, one side dehiscent, ca. 1.2 cm long; corolla tubular, elongated and curved, purplish blue; stamens 4, anthers spurred.
