(Ben Cao Tu Jing)

[synonym] honglanzi (guanglifang) and BAIPINGZI (compilation of medicinal materials).

[medicinal materials] achene, 7-8 mm long, 6-7 mm wide, 4-5 mm thick, obovate, white and smooth outside, 4-ribbed, truncate at the front end, bulging at the four corners, slightly convex at the center, obtuse and narrow base, with a concave point on the side. The shell is hard and crisp, with dark brown and glossy inside. The seeds are yellowish white, full of endosperm; the section is white, horny, odorless and slightly oily.

Produced in Jiangsu and other places.

[chemical constituents] the oil content of seed and kernel was 30.2% and 45-49%, respectively. The seed oil contained 73.6-78.0% linoleic acid, 12.0-15.2% oleic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and palmitic acid; the protein content of the oil free kernel was 61.5-63.4%.

Functions and indications: promoting blood circulation and detoxification. The treatment of acne is not quick, and women's blood qi stagnation and abdominal pain.
