[plant morphology] Rhodiola sachalinensis, also known as phoenix tail grass, Phoenix grass and Rhodiola sachalinensis.

Perennial herbs. It is 9-20 cm high and glabrous. The ratoon is stout and branched. Stem erect. Most of them are tufted with residual stems at the base. Leaves simple, alternate; linear, 3-8 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, sessile, entire, green, fleshy. Cyme terminal; unisexual, dioecious; flowers few and large, greenish white or reddish; sepals 5, strip lanceolate; petals 5, oblong to lanceolate, ca. 1 cm long, apex apical; stamens 10, shorter than petals, anthers purple; carpels 5, ovate oblong, free, styles short. There are few seeds in follicles. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.

It grows in the stone crevices of mountain slopes and ridges. It is distributed in Northwest and North China.
