Perennial herbs, 20-60 cm high. Stem tetragonal, much branched, all pilose. Leaves opposite, ovate, 1-5 cm long, 5-25 mm wide, apex pointed or obtuse, base cuneate, margin serrate. Flowers densely integrated into cymes, axillary terminal; bracts linear, subulate, margin with long cilia, 3-6 mm long; calyx tubular, green, calyx tube with 5 teeth, 2-lipped; corolla light red or purplish red, outside and below the larynx with short hairs, base tubular, gradually open upward, about 5-7.5 mm long, upper lip semicircular, tip concave, lower lip 3-lobed, Lateral segment narrowly oblong, middle segment cordate, apex slightly concave; stamens 2, anther chamber slightly divergent; style bearing ovary base, protruding out of corolla tube, 2-lobed.
