[plant morphology] Xiatian Chrysanthemum

It is perennial, 30-100cm high. The stem is erect, slightly curved at the base, rooting on the landing node, the upper branch is purplish red, with fine hairs, and the lower part is smooth. The leaves are opposite; the basal leaves are small and wither when flowering; the middle leaves are oval or oval, 4-20 cm long and 3-12 cm wide, with sharp or blunt apex, round cuneate or cuneate base, serrate or large serrate margin and sparse short hairs on both sides; the petiole is 1-6 cm long. Capitate pedunculate, 1-3 cm long, 7-10 mm in diameter; involucre semicircular, bracts 2-layered, narrowly elliptic, ca. 5 mm long, apex obtuse, base slightly commissural; tubular flower, 2.5 mm long, upper part campanulate, 5-toothed; style branched. Achenes oblong, ca. 4 mm long, obtuse in upper part, narrow in lower part, glandular punctate or tuberculate in all; 4 COROLLAE hairs, ca. 1 mm long, base united into a ring. The flowering period is from September to October.

It is found near water and in low wetland. It is distributed in most areas of China.
