Herbs annual, less than 1 m tall, slightly hairy. The branches are few, but they rise. The basal leaves are long petiolate, 3-lobed to the base, and the lobes are subdivided into many linear segments; the upper leaves are sessile and have many linear segments. Raceme very long, thinly pubescent; petiole raised, 1.5-4 cm long, with a pair of bracteoles in the middle or below the middle; flower blue, cyan purple to light red or white, often double petals, 2-4 cm in diameter when developing; sepal 5, broad and slightly obtuse, the back one extended into a distance, the distance curved upward, about equal to the other parts of the flower, the distance of the upper one pair of petals is set into it; carpel 1, in the middle part of the flower Double flowers sometimes numerous.
