Spikelets clustered, dense, with furfural scales at the base, containing 4-12 flowers, yellowish green or light green; glumes sharp, glabrous, lemma ovate and lanceolate, glabrous; palea, with 2 ridges, 3 scales, edge with long white cilia; stamens 6, anthers 4 mm long, the first end of anther septum can be small brush shaped; ovary apex is spiny, style 1, stigma 3, feathery. The shoot period is from May to June. The flowering period is from August to December.

It is usually cultivated on sunny hillside or higher along river.

Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan and other places.
