Deciduous shrub, about 1 m high. Many branched, full of short spines, spines in pairs at the base of leaves. Leaves alternate, odd pinnate compound, inserted between two spines; petiole 1.5-2.5 cm long, striated; stipules linear, most connected to petiole, margin with long spines and cilia; leaflets usually 7-11, opposite, long obovate to elliptic, margin serrate, apex pointed or rounded, base broadly cuneate, both surfaces glabrous; sessile. It grows near ditches, roadsides or shrubs in middle and low mountain areas. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangdong and other places.
