[plant morphology] Thalictrum samaritanum

Herbs perennial, about 60-150 cm high. Rhizome short, fibrous root black brown. Stem erect, glabrous. The leaflets are thick herbaceous, broadly ovate heart-shaped to obovate cuneate, or suborbicular, 1.5-2.5 cm long and 1.2-3 cm wide, 3-lobed, lobes entire or coarsely toothed, veins slightly raised. Compound monocytic cyme corymbose, with many branches; sepals white or purplish, broadly elliptic, 3-3.5 mm long; without petals; stamens numerous, 6-9 mm long, upper part of filament oblanceolate; carpel 6-8, ovary with long stalk, style short. Achenes several, obovate, with 3-4 longitudinal wings and a protruding beak. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from July to September.

It grows in forest edge, forest grassland and riverine shrub. It is distributed in Zhejiang, Shandong, Hebei, Inner Mongolia and Northeast China.
