[source / prescription] the dried whole grass of Melilotus suaveolens Ledeb, a leguminous plant, was collected in summer, washed and dried.

[character] the whole grass is shrunken, 40-80cm long, multi branched, glabrous and light green on the surface. The leaves are 3-lobular, oblong lanceolate, 1-1.5cm long and 3-5mm wide. Apex rounded or obtuse, base broadly cuneate, margin serrulate; stipules linear. The flowers are yellow; sepals are bell shaped, calyx teeth are 5, lanceolate; flag petals are obovate, wing petals and keel petals are shorter than flag petals, claws and ears are long. Pods ovoid, glabrous, reticulate, 1 seed. Ovoid, brown. It is fragrant and bitter.
