[plant morphology] baoliqiao

Shrubs, all glabrous, up to 1.5 m high. Leaves alternate, short petiole, lanceolate, 4-14 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, entire, apex acuminate. Spikes terminal or in the upper leaf pus, 4-10 cm long, often conical; bracts under flowers narrow, shorter than calyx, often falling off; calyx 5-toothed, linear, about 3 mm long; corolla lip shaped, white or pink, with purple spots, about 1.2 cm long; stamens 2, inserted in corolla throat, protruding, anther chamber of different height, one chamber of the base extended; ovary superior, style Linear, short 2-lobed.
